Understanding Your Toyota

Navigation System Information

Navigation systems use the Global Positioning System (GPS) - a network of communications satellites placed in precise, very high orbits around the earth. These satellites continuously transmit signals that are received by the vehicle's navigation system. The vehicle's navigation system receives signals from three of these satellites simultaneously. By using triangulation, it then can determine the vehicle's location with an incredible degree of accuracy anywhere on the earth. Typically, the navigation system will be able to pinpoint a vehicle's location to within a few yards.

Bluetooth Information

The Bluetooth® feature is a wireless communication system for consumer mobile devices. Wireless communication between devices is done on a 2.4 GHz frequency band that is prescribed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. Communication speed is 12Mbps (Megabytes per second). Transmission range is approximately 33 feet.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)

More consumers are aware of electronic stability control (ESC), which is the generic term for technology that helps the driver maintain control and directional stability of the vehicle in a turn. ESC is gaining favor among consumer safety groups, lawmakers and regulatory bodies. Scientific studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this safety feature, especially in lowering the risk of single-vehicle accidents. With ESC generating so much interest, more safety-minded shoppers are requesting electronic stability control.

The Tundra's version of ESC is called Vehicle Stability Control or VSC. This safety feature is standard on all Tundras and is part of the comprehensive STAR safety system.

VSC is an extension of Tundra's sophisticated electronic brake-control system. A computer monitors a network of sensors to compare the vehicle's speed and direction with the driver's steering-wheel position and throttle input. If the computer senses a deviation between the driver's intended path and the vehicle's direction, VSC will modulate the brakes individually and manipulate the throttle to help the vehicle return to course. VSC is not a traction-control feature; it is a vehicle-control feature.

In certain situations such as off-road maneuvering over difficult terrain, VSC may inhibit experienced drivers. VSC can be turned off using a dash-mounted switch but will return automatically if the engine is turned off and then started again.

Three (5) Star Reviews on Yelp

  1. If your looking for a honest service repair facility then have your vehicle(s) serviced at Toyota Certified Service Center of Santee. I've been doing business with them for as long as they have been open, they have serviced all of my vehicle over the years including my Lexus SUV.

I always deal with SCOTT who handles all of my service needs and requests. On today's date 04-12-2011 ( Tue ) I took my 2009 Toyota Corolla "S" in for a service coupon oil change and a service coupon rear brakes job. I was fully prepared to spend approximately $ 200.00 for the rear brakes. It was my belief that it was time for rear brakes. This was not check the rear brakes this was replace the rear brakes type of service at my request.

As it turns out the service tech discovered that the rear pads were at approximately 5mm and were not even close to needing replacement and brought it to Scott's attention and their decision was to forgo the rear brake job because it was not needed!

So because of their 100% honesty and wanting to do the right thing I saved $ 200 bucks on a repair job that I thought was needed. This type of integrity and straight forward honesty is something that is not found everyday!!

I know for a fact that some other repair facilities would of just went forward with the repair even though it was not needed!!

This is why I use this service center for all of my cars!! I can feel 100% comfortable with leaving my vehicles for any type of repair because of their great business practices which amounts to high integrity and the old motto of " If it ain't broken don't fix it "

I would expect nothing less from Scott and the other Assistant service managers and of course the service tech who brought it to Scotts attention that brake service was not needed !!

Thanks again for another great service experience!!

  2. I am a single grandmother, 62, and my first experience at Toyota Certified of Santee was when I once pulled into their parking lot worried about my oil level but not sure what to do and had no time to think about it as I was late for work; I went inside and asked if someone could help me and one of the Service Assistant Managers, Brad or Brett,I think, came out to my car checked the oil and added a quart of oil to my car all without having me sign anything or writing anything up or paying for anything - I was so grateful, I cried as I drove away. I moved here from Maryland and had no one to recommend service providers, but the Angels were watching over me that day because later when I took my little car back for service, Scott Miller, helped me get a good price on a repair. I have been back to Toyota Certified of Santee three or four times since then for regular service check ups and Scott has always been more than kind, honest and helpful and my little car is proof of the good care they continue to provide, she is still purring along with 91,000 miles. Scott knows that I drive a long distance to visit my grandchildren and his good care of my little car helps me feel confidant on the road, knowing that he has made sure everything is just as it should be. I drive up the highway knowing that an honest to goodness professional, someone who really cares about what he does has taken care of my little car and that feeling of security is priceless. Oh, and they put my vanity grandmother tags on for free after I had been driving around with them in my car for almost 30 days, because I did not know how to attach them due to unusual security screws. That time, one of the repairmen from the back actually came out front, looked at my tag's screws and said if I would come back the next day he would bring in a special screwdriver to change my tag for me. The next day, he changed them out in about 5 minutes and would not take a penny. How can you not love service people like this? They are like family. I love them all.
  3. I had a problem with my 2005 V8 4Runner losing power while towing our travel trailer though Santee. Scott Miller is the Assistant Service Manager, he was very professional and exceeded our expectations. They found the problem to be a battery and a fuse that had blown. They were very honest and reliable....
My wife and I have lived in North County for the past 20 years, owning only Toyota's during that time. We have purchased many Toyota's from Toyota Carlsbad only to be disappointed by Toyota Carlsbad's poor customer service and mistakes. I would recommend sending Scott up to Carlsbad to teach a class on Customer Service. We will be driving from North County for our future service needs and purchases. It's funny how far you will travel for quality service.....
