Toyota Announces High Definition Radio Technology for Camry
Toyota recently announced a new offering of High Definition (HD) Radio Technology with the popular iTunes Tagging feature in their 2012 Camry model.
The new vehicle—with HD Radio Technology included will make its debut at dealerships this fall. Currently HD Radio receivers are available from over 17 different automakers
HD Radio Technology is or will be available as a factory installed feature in Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, and Lexus (to name a few).
As of this writing, there are approximately 2,000 AM/FM over FM stations broadcasting with HD Radio technology An additional 1,300 additional digital-only FM HD2/HD3/HD4 multicast channels offer contemporary programming.
To get started, all you need an HD Radio receiver—and you can find receivers for your car, portable and home in most electronics stores. Factory installed radios from leading consumer electronics brands are also available at more than 14,000 retail stores across the country. Prices start at around $40.
HD Radio offers the same channels you receive when you listen to HD broadcasts from your local stations. They’re called HD2/HD3 channels, and you can find them on the FM dial. The new HD channels offer everything from classical to new music formats and in-language programming features.
Scion atuo recently announced that they are also making the technology a standard feature with their 2012 audio products.

Toyota to debut Prius plug-in hybrid
The Japanese carmaker claims fuel efficiency of 2.2 liters/100km and CO2 emissions of 49 grams/km for the model, which has a newly designed and more compact lithium-ion battery.
The plug-in hybrid is aimed at both urban commuters, who will benefit from its extended electric range, and drivers of longer distances, who will need the Prius’ gasoline engine, Toyota said.
The carmaker, whose Prius was the first hybrid-electric vehicle on the market in 1997, is rolling out hybrid technology across its model range.
In addition to the plug-in hybrid, Toyota will show the Prius+, a seven-seat full hybrid that will go on sale in Europe in the first half of 2012.
The Prius+ is a new model that is 155mm longer, 30mm wider and 85mm taller than the standard version of the car. Its wheelbase has been extended by 80mm.

Toyota Nurburgring Electric Record Attempt
Toyota’s high-performance electric powertrain will provide the go-power for the attempt which aims to best the current 9 minutes 1.338 seconds time. The Motorsport division believes they will do this on the first day, but has scheduled further trials just in case.
The electric powertrain uses two electric motors to deliver peak power of 280kW and a top speed of 260km/h with zero emissions, proving you can go super fast and still be green if you have... a motorsport division to back you up.
Their prototype only weighs 970kg including the battery pack, so handling should be as crisp as a spring morning. This is actually the first image ever revealed of the car that will attempt the record run.
“We want to demonstrate the high level of performance which can now be reached with an electric powertrain, not only in motorsport terms but as part of TMG’s existing development work on road car EV technology. There is no more evocative place to illustrate this performance than on the Nordschleife," commented TMG General Manager Electric & Electronics Ludwig Zeller.
Our target is to beat the existing record by more than just a few seconds because that will demonstrate just how far our technology has developed since TMG began working on KERS systems in 2007. Many people are still dreaming of an electric future for motorsport; at TMG we believe this is much closer than some think and we intend to show what can be achieved with a high-performance electric powertrain,” Zeller added.

Keep up the great work Scott!
"I had my Lexus serviced at Toyota Certified Santee and again Scott was my service adviser. They performed an oil and filter service and diagnosed a warning light issue that was displayed in the dash.
